Appomattox Regional Library System Endowed Fund Administered by the John Randolph Foundation

In 2004, the Appomattox Regional Library System and the John Randolph Foundation collaborated to establish the Appomattox Regional Library System Endowed Fund. The purpose of this fund is to provide long -term support to significantly enhance the collections, programs, and operations of the Appomattox Regional Library System, comprised of the headquarters in Hopewell and six branches in the surrounding areas.

John Randolph Foundation will manage the contributions made to the fund and invest all gifts in a manner consistent with it’s established investment program, with the objective of growing the fund and providing long-term financial assistance to the Library System.

Ways to Give

Gifts of Cash: Outright gifts may be made by check payable to ” John Randolph Foundation” for the benefit of the Library Endowed Fund.

Gifts of Stock: Gifts of stock may be made directly to John Randolph Foundation for the benefit of the Library Endowed Fund. To transfer stock to the foundation, call their office at 804-458-2239 for wiring instructions.

Gifts of Life Insurance or Retirement Assets: You may name the Library Endowed Fund at John Randolph Foundation as the beneficiary of all or a portion of your life insurance or retirement assets passing at your death.

Bequest Under Your Will or Trust: A simple way to leave the Library Endowed Fund a gift at your death is by including a clause in your will or trust document naming the Library Endowed Fund at John Randolph Foundation as the recipient of part or all of your estate.

Gift of Your Residence: You may make a gift of your home or farm and retain the right to live on the property for the remainder of your life. You will receive a charitable deduction for the portion of the property’s value and at your death the property transfers to the John Randolph Foundation to be added to the Library Endowed Fund.

Designation of Your Gift

Gifts to the Appomattox Regional Library System Endowed Fund may be designated for one or more purposes.

Unrestricted: To be used where the need is greatest.

ARLS Headquarters: To be used for collections, programs, and services.

A Particular Library Branch: To be used for collections, programs, and services at one of the library’s six branches.

Naming Opportunities

Gifts of $100 or more are recognized on commemorative plaques at the library.

Major contributions (above $10,000) may provide naming opportunities for larger public spaces in the library of your choice. These naming opportunities will be available through discussions with the Library Director and with the consent of the Library Board of Trustees.
